Can anyone imagine life without mobile today? The answer is a big No. Rich or Poor, Literate or illiterate, Employee or Businessman, Young or Old, Males or Females, Teacher or Student, Doctor or Patient,  Police or Criminals, Exporter or Importer, Friend or Enemy - everybody needs a Mobile according to his or her personal needs except the GOD and the DEVOTEE who connect to each other spiritually.

If you already possess a mobile or if you are planning to purchase or sell or exchange your mobile then You need to Know Your Mobile before going on air after inserting or activating SIM issued in your name by the Mobile Service Provider. Follow the tips below :

1. Never purchase a new mobile from the grey market and purchase it only from Company's authorized Show Room.
2. Insist for Bill or Cash memo along with details of the mobile like Brand, Model Number, and IMEI or MEID Number highlighted in Yellow in 15 or 17 digits and 1st 15 digits are IMEI Number.
3. Insist for a sealed packet and ensure that mobile set is packed in the Box with tamper proof seal of the Company like Nokia, Samsung, Sony, HTC, Micromax etc. Open the Box in your own presence and check for IMEI or MEID Number printed in the mobile set near or below the battery. 
4. Register the product online with the company by making your real profile with the Company's genuine site.
5. Insert your own SIM and know the IMEI Number through unique command *#06#. Tally it with the Bill, IMEI Number printed on set beneath the battery area or near the battery area.
6. When you activate your SIM your IMEI numbers gets registered with the National Registers and if your mobile set is stolen and reused with another SIM, the mobile set can be tracked by the police authorities.
7. Never sell your old mobile as there is no Legal Procedure to change the ownership as in case of vehicles through a legalized process. It is better to destroy the mobile set and disposed of as per recycling policy of the country.
8. Never purchase Mobile Set from unknown persons even if it available at throwaway prices. If you are purchasing from a trusted friend then insist on the bill of the mobile.
9. There are tips and tricks to know important information about the Mobile Sets. To quote you can try for Nokia Sets just type *#0000# and you will get Model Number, Version, Date of software release and phone type.
10. Sometimes the mobile users receive unsolicited marketing calls which can be deactivated here.

I am updating this article after a period of 5 years as this article was first published by me in July 2013. Today I got a message on my Mobile Phone from the Department of Telecommunications reading as under:

"You can now check manufacturer, model, etc of a mobile handset/device from its IMEI number by sending SMS "KYM <15 digit IMEI number>" to 14422. The KYM (Know your mobile) app is also available for download in the Google Play store and Apple store. From: Department of Telecommunications"

I checked for the KYM Application and Downloaded to check its authenticity and usability. It was working fine and is developed by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. 

KYM is an IMEI Verification Application. With this app, you can verify any IMEI number and can get all information related of that device as registered in Global GSMA database. You can also check for the blacklisted numbers and can also get information about your phone even if you don't know your own IMEI number. You can also scan the Bar Code printed on  Mobile Cover Box to get IMEI of your device. Information provided by this APP for an IMEI number includes Bands Supported, Manufacturer of the device, Brand Name and Model Name of your device.

Know Your Polling Station - India Elections 2014

Chief Election Officers in every state and all union territories are providing the following facilities to the electorate of India through direct SMS on the mobile numbers of the voters:

1. To know your polling station by sending SMS to designated numbers in each parliamentary constituency. For example as per Chandigarh Election Helpline one has to send the message typed as BTH Voter Card Number e.g. BTH XYZ0000000 to Mobile No.9216164606 in case of Chandigarh.
2. To Know the Candidates contesting elections one has to send CAN to designated mobile numbers.

The voters can check the number of persons in the queue on the poll day, schedule of elections, Updates on Elections 2014.

Such facilities being launched through leading dailies are good for the voters and public to the extent that they will not have to here and there to knowing their polling booth along with planning their

Know Your Medicine -KYM

Are you taking any medicine? Stop ! Know Your Medicine -KYM ! Take it. Medicines are manufactured to be taken by patients. Some medicines are available on the counter without any prescription by a qualified doctor and other medicines are available with the chemists and drug stores to be sold on prescription of a qualified doctor. List of medicines available over the counter or OTC differs from country to country. In India there is list of Schedule H drugs, as prescribed under Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, which can neither be sold by chemists over the counter not these can be purchased over the counter. Just check medicines under brand name Crocin or Dolo-650 having paracetamol as the only salt or Evion 400, Vitamin E capsules on which you will not find any statutory warning like "To be sold by retail on the prescription of Registered Medical Practitioner only". But as a chemist or patient have you noticed such warnings. If at all chemists follow the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, then can it be possible for the chemists to know all the doctors or medical practitioners across the globe without any tool to Know Your Doctor - KYD. Patients are neither aware of the medicines, know allergies and side effects of the medicines, which can be explained by your doctor alone. Patients are advised neither to medicate themselves nor take the medicines, available over the counter, for a prolonged period as no medicine is without side effects. The patients should avoid frequent use of even Pain Killers, Anti allergic  medicines. In addition to the above the patients must check the following before consuming any medicine even on the prescription of a qualified doctor :

1. Expiry date of the medicine as expired medicines can have life threatening consequence.
2. Discoloring of medicines due to improper up keep as medicines may get spoiled in humid and very hot environments.
3. Keep the medicines out of reach of children.
4. Never exceed the prescribed dosage 
5. Insist for Cash Memo or bill for the medicines to be purchased as it will discourage your chemist to sell spurious drugs, duplicate drugs.
6. Check for any foreign particles, fungi in the liquid medicines or drips.
7. Check for any authentication code supplied by the manufacturer on the medicine and verify medicine.
8. Taking medicine before or after meals is very important and seek clear instructions from your doctor.
9. It is always advisable to take the medicine with fresh filtered, germ free and purified water but if doctor has advised it to be taken with milk or otherwise, follow your doctor religiously.
10. Irregular use of some medicines can make the body drug resistant as in case of TB drugs. Patients must take the full course of medicines as advised by the doctor.

Know Your Customer - KYC

The concept of Know Your Customer of KYC was introduced in the Banking Industry through out the world to keep check on terrorist activities being funded by the terrorists groups and organizations through Banking Channel as it is a hard fact that if the supply line of any militant group or organization is cut off then the group or organization is starved to death. When supply of money, arms and basic amenities including food, water  and shelter is cut then no organization can survive on the existing resources for long. Though KYC as popular among Bankers and public is in relation to opening of account of prospective customers by the Banks. But frankly speaking the KYC concept holds goods for all type of customers including customers of airlines, railways, malls, cinema house, shopkeeper and even doctors. We have already covered the customers of the doctors under Know Your Patient - KYP guidelines. Now even railways, airlines have started taking the ID proof of their passengers. Gas Agencies like Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL and Bharat Gas have also started the process of linking their customers or consumers with their Aadhaar Cards. Income Tax authorities have also started knowing about their customers that is assesses through  PAN number, which may be linked to the Aadhaar Card in near future. Cross linking of Aadhaar Card, Passports, Voter Cards, Gas Connections, Electric, Water and Sewerage Connections, House Tax, Income Tax, Service Tax and other Taxes account will pave a way for digitization of all record. Linking of Social Net Working profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Linkedin along with CIBIL Reports, Demat accounts of Stocks and Share, Insurance Repositories, Salaries and Pensions can easily create Real Data Base of the Indian Human Population and in future we can switch over to dematerialized form of educational degrees, wills and probate and above all title to property to be linked Unique Aadhaar Number which is a 12 digit Individual Identification Number issued by UIDAI on bhealf of Government of India so as to have digitization of all the immovable properties. Aadhar ID is acceptable all over India as a single and unique proof of residence and address and can be verified online from the GOI site for UIDAI. Let all the politicians which are either Members of Parliament (both the Houses - Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) and all the Members of all State Assemblies in India and members of the Judiciary should come forward to link their accounts and profiles discussed above so that the common man does not hesitate to link their all profiles and to achieve this target Government needs to build a Trust among its citizens. While the poor, when lured to receive subsidies, scholarships, NAREGA payments may not have to think much to execute the linking but it is a million dollar question if Big Bigs  including political leaders, big business houses will oblige the Government authorities in thier venture. 

Know Your Company - KYC

Now take the case of Registrar of Companies with individuals on their Board of Directors. Will such individuals provide the UIDAI numbers to Registrar of Companies, so that such individuals can neither befool the Registrar  of Companies nor the gullible investors by disappearing from the scene of one company flouted by them and flouting another company. If UIADI or Aadhar Card number is provided by such individuals in Certificate of Incorporation of any Limited Company then public, SEBI or ROC will be in a position to know their stake in other companies.

Know Your Family Tree - KYFT

You (1) know the name of your biological father and mother and your father (2) and mother (3) will be knowing the names of their respective biological father (4 and 5) and mother (6 and 7). Your maternal and paternal grand father might be knowing the name of their respective father and mother and in the male dominated world society we do not bother much about our maternal grand grand parents and we content with knowing the roots of our grand grand paternal parents and the the family branches going hither and thither with brothers and sisters of your parents, grand parents and grand grand parents in all the directions that is paternal or external, the individual find itself caught in the spider's web with no start and no end.What is the necessity to know the family tree. It is the curiosity to know our forefathers and ancestors since the start of civilization process from stone age or even before that. As per Hindu scripts now we are passing through the fourth Yug that is Kali Yuga after the completion of Satya Yuga with total span of 17,28,000 human years with average human life of 100000 years, Treta yuga with total span of 12,96,000 human years and each human having average age of 10000 years and then came the Dwapar Yug having total span of 8,64,000 human years and average life span of the human having been reduced to just 1000 years. Present Kali Yuga is said to be of 4,32,000 human years with average life of human at 100 years which may reduce up to 20 years towards the end of the Kali Yuga or Dooms Day, as is being foretasted by self styled astrologers. Now think, where do we have come from?  What is our origin and Who are our ancestors. Why we do not follow our ancestors dating back to Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga or Dwapar Yuga and by the ratio of virtues and sins went on decreasing from 4:0  > 3:1 > 2:2 and finally came down to 1:3 in Kali Yuga.

Preservaton of Records of Family Tree:

In the past the Panda and Purohits of  Hardwar, Kashi, Gaya Ji and religious heads at other center of pilgrimages known from the times of Lord Krishna used to keep Bahi Khata, which may be called as Registrar of births and deaths of that era, which could not be tampered with in any way, acceptable as legal proof of deaths and births. The preservation of such records for thousands of years was a big problem as in natural calamities like Uttrakhand Floods 2013 such records used to get destroyed. But as the Kali Yuga progressed the faith in the old religious systems also got eroded and now such records are likely to be kept digitally on Facebook, Google+ and Family Search or Family Tree. 

How to Build Your Family Tree

To enable your future generations to enable them to click Know Your Family Tree - KYF, you have to take the following steps:

1. Ask all your know relatives to build family tree through their Facebook Accounts and the family tree will grow up only after the FB users own their relatives and forefather. The Family Tree is strictly a Private Facebook Application and over a period of time when the family tree grows and its roots get stretched and spread through the time machine, the FB users will be able to contact any relation of their choice with a single click at their latest address.

3. Facebook and other Social Networks need to strengthen their security system and provide the Green Check Mark (✓) along side Facebook User's Name in token of having verified the identity and location of the user through online verifiable sources like UIDAI Number, Social Security Number, Passport Number along with Proof of date of birth being SSLC or Passport clearly depicting the names of father and mother of the FB users. 

Imagine the Family Tree, which may consist of very good or even bad people with more and more options available to Facebook Users to disconnect the bad relationships but without disowning the old relationships as there is a lot of difference between legal and social ownership.

Know Your Budget - KYB

Estimate of Income and Expenditure by any independent individual, of course major, any family or any nation is called Budget in a lay man's language. If any individual, family or a nation is overspending then the known sources of income then individuals have to borrow money which is financed by the private money lenders or banks and financial institutions based upon the current and future sources of income and wealth already accumulated by the individual. So far the immovable assets  of the individual are sufficient to pay off the borrowed money, the individual is considered solvent and otherwise the individual becomes bankrupt. The same rule applies to Nuclear Families, Hindu Undivided Families and even Nations. Though it is difficult to provide for each and every unforeseen expenses, natural calamities yet one must know the sources or likely sources of income and expenditure on monthly, quarterly or yearly basis. Short term budgets are always better as these get reviewed quickly. Long terms budgets, if not reviewed at regular intervals may make the assessments harder and that is why national budgets are drawn every year and Individual or Families need to review their budget every month. Smaller the size of budget, more will be implications of change in estimations.
